| Course Description: |
The course is set on 150 acres of unspoiled, rolling, quiet countryside with majestic views of East Clare.
The 18-hole course opened in 1997 and is very popular with visitors both from
overseas and within Ireland. East Clare opened as a "pay as you play"
course and it is the policy to ensure visitors are accommodated at all times. The Championship course has been designed
by, noted golf architect Dr. Arthur Spring. The par of the course is 71 with
more than 6,500 yards of fairways. Hazards include several lakes, bunkers, streams
and trees.East Clare was the venue of the European
PGA Seniors Tour Event in August 1998, won by John Morgan and is located just
five minutes drive from beautiful Lough Derg and about half an hour from Shannon Airport. East Clare has an Open Singles every Thursday from April to
October in 2005.

| Club History |
In the early years of the
20th century there was an active golf course in Killaloe and the "golfhouse"
was used during the annual Killaloe races. The club went into decline and it
was not until 1988 when the Derg Golf Society was formed and golf was revived
in the area. By 1991 they had identified land at Coolreagh, owned by the Boland
family. Michael Hogan, John Joyce, T. J. McNamara and Tom Murray were appointed
to negotiate the purchase of the lands.
Having formed the Bodyke Castletown Trust Ltd. they set about raising half a
million, under the chairmanship of John Joyce. By 1993 the club had received
G.U.I. status and eight of the first nine permanent holes had been completed.
The Curtin land was purchased in 1996 and the club now had 150 acres to complete
the 18-holes. Under the guidance of Charles Stuart, with the assistance of Martin
Mason and Michael Fahy the championship 18-hole course was completed and opened
in 1997. The clubhouse was commenced in November 2000 and completed in July
2001. A feature of the design is the incorporation of the original stonewalls
of the old kitchen garden in the development.
