Course Description:

The Course is among the most scenic anywhere, overlooking the River Laune as it enters Dingle Bay and the Atlantic. The Laune is the river that drains Killarney’s famous lakes. The course is overshadowed on one hand, by the Slieve Mish range of the Dingle peninsula and by the majestic MacGillicuddy Reeks, on the other. 18-holes, parkland course, designed by the great (late) Eddie Hackett, who, among many others, also designed Waterville and Killarney’s O’Mahony’s Point and Killeen courses, and was a consultant at Dooks Golf Club. Killorglin opened in 1992 and the course is now maturing very nicely. Eddie Hackett was, enchanted by the site.Along with its neighbouring clubs, Dooks and Beauford, Killorglin healed a special open in June 2002, with all proceeds being donated to the Special Olympics, which Ireland hosted in June 2003.

Club History

Founded 1993. Golf was played at Killorglin as far back as the mid 1890s. "The Sportsman's Holiday Guide" 1897 states "There is a nine-hole course here which is open to visitors at any of the hotels. The course is considered to be a very sporting one". It would appear the course did not survive very long and was a commercial enterprise. It was not until 1992 that the game resurfaced again when an eighteen-hole course was opened at Stealroe. The first President was Billy Dodd, the first Captain was Ger Counihan and Lady Captain, Kathleen Roche.

Location

One and a half miles out of Killorglin on the Tralee Road. On the N70.
