Course Description:

Bantry Bay is an idyllically set Cliff-top Parkland course with panoramic views of Whiddy Island and the Beara Peninsula. The course is a great test of golf for the low handicapper, and equally will give tremendous enjoyment to the casual golfer.

A club where the visitor is always welcome, and the hospitality in the clubhouse, is second to none.

So go on, go and play the "Tiger of the South" it will make you want to go back for more. Group rates are available for 12 plus. Voted the No. 74-ranked golf course in Ireland, by “Golf Digest Ireland” in 2008. Bantry Golf Club operate a Three-Club Pass together with Kenmare & Beauford for €109 in 2008.

Club History

Although the present Bantry Bay Golf Club was founded in 1975, golf was first played in Bantry as far back as the 1890s, on Chapel Island, mainly supported by the officers of the Guard Ship, HMS Dreadnaught.
Members Achievements

Bantry Bay Golf Club won the All-Ireland Aer Lingus Youths' Championship in Mullingar G. C. in 1985, when the team was, Derek Maguire, Pat Buckley, Joe O'Reilly and Tim Deasy. 

Our congratulations, to Bantry Bay Golf Club on winning, the All-Ireland and Munster AIB-GUI-ILGU award in the Communications Category in 2003. They were presented with their award at a function at the AIB Bank centre Ballsbridge in November 2003. The club was, represented by Jim O'Keeffe Captain and John Cummins Hon. Secretary.

Bantry Bay Golf Club were the Inaugural Winners of the Jack Flynn Perpetual Trophy in 1999, when the team was R. O'Callaghan, C. Keohane, A. Ware, J. Tobin, G. Kedie, J. King, T. Hoghes, P. Dooley, J. Harrington, J. Buckley, S. Coughlan, J. Flynn and N. Kearns.

They were Munster Champions of the Jefferson Smurfit Foursomes in 1981, when the team was Cathal McCarthy, John Nugent, Derek Maguire, Pat Buckley, Joe O'Reilly and Tim Deasy, they were captained by W. Aylmer.

They won the Cork Examiner Am-Am on 13th June 1982, with Pat Buckley, Donal McCarthy and Billy Flynn.

They won the Senior West Cork Shield in 1982, when the team was, J. Casey, P. J. Maguire, D. Maguire, D. McCarthy, D. Casey, G. Harrington, T. Deasy, J. Hunt, J. O'Reilly, P. Buckley, J. Nugent and W. Aylmer.

They won the Michael Minihan Shield in 2003, when the team was Eoin O'Neill, Pat Morrissey, Ray O'Callaghan, Seamus Reilly, Michael Minihan, Jim O'Rourke, John Harrington, John Brennan and Curly Keohane.

Bantry Bay Golf Club won the West Cork Senior Shield in 1994, when the team was, R. Deasy, P. Morrisey, J. Cummins, K. O'Donovan, J. Kelly, W. Aylmer, S. Buckley, J. Barry and J. Kelleher, they were managed by T. Kelly.

The Juveniles of Bantry Bay Golf Club won the Munster Club Youths in 1989, when the team was, P. Buckley, R. Deasy, P. Maguire and J. Kingston.

They won the Munster Juvenile Foursomes in 1986, when the team was, M. Holwerda, A. Kelly, R. Deasy, D. Flynn and S. Buckley.

They won it prior to that in 1984, when the team was, J. Kingston, R. Deasy, D. Flynn, P. Maguire and A. Kelly.  

The Ladies of Bantry Bay Golf Club won the Ladies West Cork Shield in 2204 & 2002. They won it for the first time in 1977, when the team was Mary Flynn, Maeve O'Neill, Jo Morris, Martha O'Connor, Helen Crowley, Margaret Linnane and Joan O'Leary.

They won it again in 1992, when the team was J. McCarthy, K. Kearns, E. Morrissey, J. McCarthy, M. McCarthy, P. Kelly, O. O'Neill, M. Flynn, L. Brisley, P. Foley, V. Maguire and N. Barry.

The Girls' of Bantry Bay Golf Club won the All-Ireland Smurfit Juvenile Girls Championship in 1981, when the team was, Katie Brisley, Karen Maguire and Lesley Brisley.

The Girls' of Bantry Bay Golf Club won the Munster Smurfit Juvenile Girls' Championship in 1985, when the team was, Lesley Brisley, Mary Lou Maguire and Emer Flynn.

The Girls' of Bantry Bay Golf Club won the Munster Smurfit Juvenile Girls' Championship in 1982, when the team was, Karen Maguire, Ann Deasy and Lesley Brisley.

Mary and Emer Flynn won the Munster Final of the Huzzar Vodka Ladies Foursomes in 1986.

R. Deasy played Munster Youths in 1998.

D. Maguire played Munster Youths from 1984 to 1985.

P. Maguire played Munster Youths in 1988.

Karen Maguire played for the Irish Girls in 1983.

Alan Kelly had the pleasure of caddying for Paul McGinley, at Kiawah Island in 1997, when the two Rathfarnham lads, Paul and Padraig, won the World Cup. The Kelly family had some great wins in July 1999, when Tim won (12) the Thornhill Brothers singles with a 70 and his wife took the Hurley's Garage competition the same day with 39 pts. and son Ian won the best gross.
