Designed by the master himself, great Harry Vardon, Dunfanaghy is only 5,006 metres par-68 with a standard scratch of 66. Yet it fine test golf and unique experience. Situated along beautiful lagoon Sheep Haven Bay in North Donegal Atlantic seaboard, dominated Horn Head Mountain. Two burns come into play down right hand side 3rd protecting 4th 13th greens. will challenge experienced golfer prove enjoyable to novice.
Dunfanaghy extended and refurbished their clubhouse, which was officially opened on 20th April 2002 in time for the golfing season. In the clubhouse you will see pictures of Ryder Cup hero Paul McGinley, who was a member of the club and now an honouree member and has b connections with this beautiful part of Donegal. The visitor is always extended a warm Donegal welcome on this traditional links course. |

Club History |
Instituted 1906, affiliated 1920. Golf has been played at Dunfanaghy since 1897, when the links were connected with the Sterrett Hotel. The "Golfing Annual" 1906-7 records the institution date as 1906. with Major Edgeworth-Johnston as Captain, and Mr. J. A. Sterrett, as Hon. Secretary. "The course is of eighteen holes, is bordered by the Atlantic on one side and by Derryveagh Mountains on the other, and has splendid natural bunkers and hazards". |

Members Achievements |
Dunfanahy trio J. Brogan, J. McGinley and P. Hanlon won the Ulster regional final of the Musgrave's Club Challenge and booked their place in the National Final in the Algarve in October 2001, where they came second.Dunfanahy Golf Club won the Donegal Minor League in 1993, when the team was, Michael Ward, Tommy McGinley, John Gallagher, Charles Roarty, Lua Breen, Nigel Doherty, Frank Kelly, Samuel Sterrit, Hugh F. Brogan Christy Ratherford, Denis McFadden, Jim Carey, Hugh Ferry, James, McCorkell, William Ratherford and Tony McGilloway and they won it again in 1994.
Ciaran McMonagle, who has now joined the professional ranks, was selected to play for Irish Seniors in Home International September 2000. He won Bank of Ireland Amateur Close Championship at Killarney G. C., on 16th June 1999, beating Michael Sinclare Knock 2 and 1, Willie Gill Perpetual Award with a total 145 points same year. men's team Internationals Royal Co. Down 22nd-24th 1999.
