Club History

Club HistoryInstituted 1892 affiliated 1896. An article in The Belfast Newsletter tells us that access to the course at Greencastle was by ferry. The lands and a small clubhouse were given to the club entirely rent-free. The first captain was P. Crosbie P. C. It was a nine-hole course on sixty acres. The club has a set of accounts for 1892 and it had 42 members. The course was extended to eighteen-holes by 1914. In 1923, the course is recorded as a nine-hole course. This is probably a result of compulsory tillage during the Great War.
