Course Description:

Tommy Halpin undertook the original design of Castlewarden Golf Club and the services of the late Tom Craddock were retained to complete the work before the course was opened in 1990. Craddock was responsible for many of the major new course designs in Ireland during the past few decades, such as Druid’s Glen and St. Margaret’s and his mark is clearly evident in this North Kildare club. After Tom’s death his son Chris completed the work to transform Castlewarden into a challenging and enjoyable golf course.

Among the feature holes at Castlewarden Golf Club are the 3rd at 445 yd's Par 4 Index 1, which demands an accurate 2ndshot between two man-made lakes. Followed by doglegged 4th at 333 yd's with water all the way up the right hand side for your second. The 10th is a very inviting short par 4, which tempts even the moderate hitter to take it on, but miss at your pearl. The 18th is among the best finishing holes to be found anywhere in Ireland at 553 yd's Par 5 Index 4, is played to a green tight in the right-hand corner with out of bounds up the right and the garden wall to the back of the green.

Castlewarden’s Clubhouse is a 17th century house built by the Percivall family with all the grandeur of the period. The committee is undertaking a substantial renovation and extension to this wonderful building. Visitors are always extended a warm welcome here.
